  1. I live in Costa Rica and work here too. Some of the people I know deal in Real Estates. Besides, I've knowledge on many different places of this country where other people will even know you could buy some land. I'm able to travel around and talk to the real people not just an agent.

If you are interested please contact me at dbeca19@yahoo.com with all your information and expectations.

  2. If you're looking for trust worthy agents, its always safer to stick with the big guys...like Century 21. As far as good deals, it depends what you're looking for...beach, farm, mountain etc... but I should forewarn you... real estate has boomed over the past 5-10 years and prices have sky rocketed around most of the country. Again, depends on how deep your pockets are... but on average it'll be tough to find any good property for less than $100 sq meter.

  3. The people in Costa Rica know what their land is worth now... there are few if any steals these days.

Century 21 has many offices down there. Be careful of scams, and also property rights. Some land, especially as you get closer to the coast, cant be deeded and goes back to the government every 99 years.

Also, if you are not there to defend it (your land), you could run into problems with squatters in the future.

I recommend you go there for a month or two to really scope it out.... and I recommend buying on the southwest coast between Pavones and Quapos.

  4. Depending on what area you are interested in, there are people to help you.  As the others say there are the BIG ones like Century 21.  There are also a lot of smaller companies, and many private people.  Personally I would rather deal with someone on a personal level.  You should look around and get a feel for the country , then decide what area like best.  Naturally beachfront is the most expensive.  There are beautiful views from the mountains, but the roads here are HORRIBLE.  The area halfway from Cuidad Neilly to San Vito is growing >> lots of nice lots available reasonable.  I am only familiar with the southern zone, but is I can be of further help feel free to write to me.

  5. Probably the best over round area would be around Quepos a little fishing village of about 4,000 souls on the Pacific side of CR.

its only minutes away from Manuel Antonio Nature Park/Beach and right in the middle of all of the tourist activities.

It takes only 25 minutes to fly there from San Jose by Sansa Air ( Round trip costs $118.00 which includes tax).

You want to hire a good Real Estate Attorney ASAP when you have seen the property you intend buying as there are a lot of scams down there.
