Valencia defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Costa-c30980, has come out and explained why he thinks his side has improved much since the arrival of Ernesto Valverde.
Former Los Che manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mauricio-c24899 Pellegrino, was fired at the beginning of December last year and was soon replaced by Valverde who has instantly managed to win four out of his opening five games in charge of the club.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 were highly criticised for their lack of defensive discipline as they were conceding so many goals. Since the arrival of Valverde, the stats in that department have improved highly. In fact, the team has managed to keep
three consecutive clean sheets since the Spanish tactician took control of things at the Mestalla.
Ricardo Costa believes it is because of the different strategy and philosophy implemented by the new coach that things have dramatically improved for them.
“It’s a different philosophy, every Coach has his style of play, his philosophy of seeing football and how he wants his team to play.”
The centre-back also stated that at the moment the whole attitude and personality of the team is different on the pitch and that they are playing like a unit.
“With Valverde, he has changed the team’s personality and attitude on the field, the philosophy of play, the pressure and we play more together.”
Moreover, the Portuguese defender also revealed the fact that they now following specific guidelines that are provided by their boss. He admits that these guidelines are crucial for them as every player on the field now knows exactly
what they are supposed to do.
Finally, the 31-year-old is fully aware of the major improvement his team has achieved since the change of management in the team. He is sure they are now on the right track.
“Now there are some guidelines on things such as knowing when we have to pressurize or pull back, these are important things and where the team has improved. We are slowly improving; we can push teams for longer.”
Valencia are currently on the 9th position in the table standing with 24 points. They will clash with Granada in the Primera Division on this weekend.
