Costa do sol Arena all set for African Beach Volleyball competition
Preparations are underway at the Costa do sol Arena as it gives itself the final touches for the upcoming 2011 All Africa Games which will bring the African beach volleyball competition to its grounds.
The beach volleyball competition expected to arrive with the African Games will be the biggest one yet that has ever been featured in Africa. The scale of the event has generated all the right amount of thrill and excitement in the continent and the city
of Maputo in Mozambique will play host to the grand event and is enjoying all the limelight.
Despite the thrill that the upcoming event is generating in the region, the officials of the event are serious about all the technicalities and want to provide the best facilities to the teams that will be making a show of their skills in the days to come.
In order to achieve this purpose, a visit to the location was made by the president of CAVB, Dr. Amir Elwani. He was not alone in the round of the Arena but was escorted by Howyda Mondy who is the technical director at CAVB as well as Gershon Rorich, the
beach commission member of the CAVB.
Elwani made the following statements concerning the upcoming event: “I hope to see a successful competition here to push the sport more after the great start at the CAVB Continental cup last year. I’m happy to see these facilities at Costa do Sol Arena and
I think it will be a great edition at the beach Volleyball level in Africa before the second round of the Continental Cup.”
The tournament that is going to take place in the Arena is going to feature both men as well as women volleyball teams. In all, 30 teams will be taking part in the tournament, 15 from the men’s side and another 15 from the women’s.
The level of play that is expected to be seen at the tournament is high class as the participating teams will the ones that have either gotten the first slot in the seven continental zones or have stood runners up.
