Question:

Costco return policy-will this situation be approved or denied?

Hello! Here is my siutation.

I purchased a projector from costco.com in June. It works pretty well-except for one thing. When you try to watch tv on it, a bar scrolls up the screen over and over again in an endless loop! It's very annoying-one of the main reasons i bought this projector is to watch TV on it. I tried to call the projector company about this but they offered no real solutions, so I called costco concierge and it was basically more of the same. Costco even advertises that you can use this projector to watch TV! I also saw that there is a satisfaction guranteed policy, which i am not satisfied. So if I try to return it at my local costco, do you think they will approve the return. I have the instruction manuals, packaging it came in, accessories, etc. I am just worried because I have used it a decent amount and the bulb is obviously no longer new. Do you think this will be approved or denied? It would be great to hear from a costco manger! But anyone's opinion is appreciated. Thanks!

  1. Costco is usually fantastic about returns, especially if you have all the packing and receipts. (That's one of the main reasons that I shop there so often).

About a year ago, they changed their return policy for electronics - it used to be 1 year, but it changed to 90 days.

I would take it back right away to make sure you're within the new 90 day deadline, and just explain the bar scrolling. They will probably give you a refund right there with no problem or hassles.

Here is their return policy on their website, which states satisfaction guaranteed except for 90 days with some electronics:

  2. it should be approved.

just tell them that you weren't satisfied and what was wrong with it. they 100% should take it back.

  3. I don't see why they wouldn't take it back.  You might not have talked to the right person on the phone.  Be polite, this will get you farther.  You still need to be aggressive, if they say they are not sure just ask to talk to some one else.  Good luck.
