  1. It really depends on where you want to live. If you go to a big city you will be paying lots. I know London is very expensive. Right now I am a U.S. student studying in England. I live between Manchester and Liverpool. The town is really small. It is affordable but it is still expensive. Anywhere you go in England it is going to be expensive. I would suggest going to your study abroad office at school.

  2. My son has been applying to Uni we live in the UK most of the Uni's have very good websites that actually contain most of the information you need, such as Finance , housing etc.

We now have Uni's in most of the major towns and cities so it shouldn't be too hard for you to find the sites.  For example where I work we have families with students at Reading, Bristol, Birmingham,  Portsmouth and Southampton Universitys.   As a starting point I really would put in one of these on your search engine and explore the website it may help you making your decision.

A bit indirect I know but as a parent I was very impressed with the details.

As to where to live again the Universities have their own Halls of Residence, also they are very good at providing information about looking for rented accomadation in the local area.  One Uni we looked at even helped find lodgings with in a family setting.

Good luck  I admire the fact you want to go out there and do something with your life.

  3. Where are you from? Some universities in the UK have scholarships to people in some countries, eg Belize for UEA etc.

Fees are quite expensive in the UK for overseas students, although I am not sure how much it is. About £7,500 per year i have heard.

Have you thought about joining a university in your own country and then looking into a couple of schemes that enable you to study abroad? We had loads of overseas students come to my uni from the Erasmus scheme especially!!

On campus rent costs are about £80 per week, allow £20 per week for food and then more money for socialising!

    Good luck!
