Costs of Air plane tickets?

in about a year or so, i'm going to Japan with my friend because she's been there, and she was going to visit and take me along with her. she also said that we might go to Thailand (she's from there) after Japan, then come back.

can someone help me with the possible costs of the tickets for all three trips? and maybe help me find out how much extra money to take with me so i can buy things from Japan and Thailand? i've always wanted to go, but if i can't find the money by then, i'll be left behind...

oh, sorry about this, but don't give me any websites. i don't know how to book trips and stuff (i've tried many times and failed, which is why i'm asking help here)

I flew out to Tokyo not too long ago and it cost me right around $1000 to go there from San Francisco. The flight from there to Thailand would be somewhere around 500-1000 dollars extra, and as for purchasing things there you would want to bring about 500-750 dollars, that's if you don't count the stay at the hotel. By the way, the prices are for round trip tickets.
