  1. Average cost is around $10-$12,000 per cycle for everything from meds to appts and the procedure itself. There are Dr's who do the shared risk program where you pay X amount and it usually covers 3 IVF cycles, if none of them work you get a certain amt back.

  2. I have been through 2 cycles of IVF.  When we were researching it before we selected a clinic, we visited several clinics and the costs varied widely, even within the same city.  So I can only give you a ballpark, because costs vary widely by clinic, city, state, etc.  In general, though, you can expect to pay around $8,000 - $12,000 per cycle, and an additional several thousand dollars if you have to do ICSI.  I would suggest contacting the clinics in your area for specific pricing, and seeing what your insurance will cover (if you have it).  Good luck.

  3. In Illinois (Chicago), about 12,000 with the drugs.  My insurance doesnt cover it if i need it.

  4. My clinic is in Akron Ohio, and we just got our bfp from our 2nd round of ivf!! The 2nd time we paid $8,300 to the clinic- that included the ivf, icsi, and assisted hatching (they drilled a hole in the embryo before they transfered them).  Then, we paid an additional $2,000 for the drugs (give or take a couple hundred, I don't remember the exact number). It really depends on the area and your clinic. If you don't have a clinic yet, they will be able to tell you pricing when you meet with them the 1st time. Good luck!!

PS- my insurance didn't cover any, but a lot do!

  5. Without insurance coverage, the US has a wide range of prices depending on the clinic and where you live.  I have heard anywhere from $6000 - $12000 for the average cycle and even more if you do additional treatments like ICSI.  I just gave birth to my IVF twins -  boy (Harry) and girl (Genevieve) on August 26th, 2008 - they are a result of my first IVF cycle.  We were among the lucky ones!

Have you looked into insurance coverage?  Currently 15 states in the US mandate some sort of fertility coverage. You can refer to the Resolve Website for info on the states that require coverage.

    http://www.resolve.org/site/PageServer?p...

Be warned even if your state required it - some businesses are headquarted in other states and offer their coverage through another state that may not offer benefits. If they are self-insured it is not covered, and you must meet their qualifications for infertility.

If you cannot find insurance coverage - this might help:

As to paying for treatments - here are some tips:

    1) Start with the RE - most doctors have a team that can help you with finding ways to pay for your treatment - they are amazing at figuring out your insurance benefits, coming up payment plans and may even be able to recommend medical studies / clinical trials that you may be able to participate in.

    2) Grants -there are groups out there that fund raise for fertility treatments - you need to apply and cross your fingers.

    3) Loans - banks and credit card companies (my friend used Capital One) offer fertility loans with fair interest rates and payment plans. Maybe see if you can borrow from a family member.

Here is a great link for you about all types of funding for fertility treatments:

    Good luck!
