Costume Classs??

Question

i need an idea for a costume for my horse luke for this show

i have done peach queen and harley davidson. but i need something i can make fast and cheap because i only have a 60$ budget and 1 week.any ideas? He is like 17.3, 18.0 h 1700 pounds so i need somethign that can fit that size.

what I did one year, i took all our beach stuff and put it on my bay gelding. towel as a saddle pad, put white sunscreen on his nose (not harmful) or use corona ointment if your afraid, put shells in his mane and tail (hot glue rubber bands under the shell and use em like hair ties) i dressed in a bathing suit and everything. i painted v type things on his hoofs with washable paint (looked like flip flops lol) i bought those big glasses and attahced it to his browband (everyone loved that lol) and i put leighs everywhere (around his neck and dangling) i think i spent like 30 bucks in all. i wont first place out of 10 :) a good way to spend less money is to think of what you already have.

for example i used to dance and i used all my old ballet stuff on my other gelding. (who got first another time :) )

think of the old stuff you have laying around or what you dont use. maybe a hobby you stopped doing. it really helped me with ideas and saving money!!

haha you could be one of those american idians you see in movies and all that i have done that before. I had a headpeace and what was suppose to be the skirt as the saddleblanket with wash of paint on my horses and i bought one of those toy bow and arrows and stuck feathers on it.

one costume i did was cruella devil, and a dalmation.

i had a bay horse, and i put white spots with face paint all over her for some humor.

i bought a wig that had black on one side, and white on the other. i wore a black and red outfit.

try a john deere tractor (him) and your the farmer. use like a green sheet and paint the tractor details on him. or if he's a gray you could be a ringmaster and him the elephant. or (him) eeyore and (you) piglet/ pooh/ or rabbit.

well it really depends on the colour of your horse. if he is black/dark bay, then you could do a black pegasus and u and evil rider. so all you would need for that  is black wings glitter and sumthing to put on ur reins such as party streemers. umm and for you just dark evil clothes.

umm if you horse is a grey/white. you could do the opposite to the black peguses and do a white peguses., with a princess on top.

or you could be riding you horse as a devil with horns nd a steak thingo and like horns on ur horse and stuff with things hanging of or the opposite to that and do an angel.

any way i hope i helped sum what. all theese things are easy to do, and the stuff for them isnt that hard to find.

Hey, that is a huge horse!  Go medeivel costume with him!  you could use some kind of thing to drape over him like the old war horses....there are tons of pics online that you could get.  There are some awesome medeivel costumes out there.  I was thinking of his size and how awesome he would be looking like that.

My friend's grandson showed my horse in a costume class as uncle sam.  He won grand champion out of 20.  Anything patriotic captures the judges :)  If your a girl, maybe the statue of liberty? or Betsy Ross?  You can get some red, white and blue tack for cheap, get some off brand stuff.  Cut a star out of cardboard to use as a stencil and get some colored spray or gel made for horses and put them all over horse.  Get some blue, red and white ribbon and put it in your horses mane and tail.  You can pick up packaged costumes for cheap.  Good luck and have fun!

Instead of getting a new costume try give him a bath and brushing his coat. Then buy an new saddle and some other stuff to make him/her look even better. But if you REALLY need this money, you could get a job like babysitting or doing chores around the house. You could also buy stuff your horse on Ebay, the prices are always cheaper
