Costume ideas please - Alice in Wonderland?

My boyfriend and I were invited to a "madhatters ball" next month so we have lots of time to design costumes but unfortunately that isn't my best skill. We are expected to dress up like characters from Alice in Wonderland. We are not set on who's gonna be who yet so any ideas are appreciated. I would like to be the cheshire cat but have no idea how to pull it off and he would like to be one of the playing cards but I am not sure how to go about that either. Thanks for your time guys!

Chesire Cat

Start off with its colors and bring them together into a nice little pattern

You can do a play off of Catwomans various outfits if you want.

Playing Cards

Get creative with some casual clothes or a maybe a suit

(Its been a long while since I've seen Alice in Wonderland)
