Question:

Cottage in Brittany or Normandy?

I'd like to rent a cottage in either area, preferably Brittany. Rustic would be nice. Can anyone tell me a gorgeous area to stay that would be central to visiting the coast and countryside?

  1. I am from southern Brittany.

I could advice you to spend some time in "Belle-Ile" which is off coast from Quiberon in Morbihan. This is a magnificient place. But Brittany overall has thousands of beautiful places. If you want to move around you definitely need a car.

try this link to find an accomodation: http://www.armor-vacances.com/ they have an english version

I personnaly also like the following areas:

    Vannes

    Perros Guirrec

    Audierne

    Douarnenez

    ect...ect...

  2. Take a look in Daltons weekly if your from the UK,normally a good selection from owners in both areas. Have a nice time in the country side or sea side.

  3. All parts of Bretagne and Normandie are gorgeous...

In Bretagne around Saint Brieuc or Morlaix would be a fairly central location to branch out from.

In Caen in lower Normandie or Rouen in upper Normandie. Either city is lovely... Rouen would be good for a sidetrip to Paris. If you choose Normandie go to Honfleur and see the magnificent bridge.

Brittany is known for its rainy weather, which is one of the reasons it is so beautifully green! Both these areas of France have fantastic countryside, beautiful villages, lovely coastal areas...and marvelous food!

Wherever you choose, you will be sure to enjoy your stay!

    :-)
