Cotto-Margarito in July..What do you guy's think?!?!?!?

I just read this, It didn't say 2009 either. Could they be fighting again that soon?

yes sir cause the winner will in theory be inline for the winner of Mayweather Delahoya , but that wont happen.... Margarito already said , thru an enterperter, that he does have a small cut but he will be ready for the fight , in an interview after the fight.....neither fighter went long in their fights and only Margarito got damaged with a cut over his eye... will be a great fight if it happens but im still waiting for Cotto to sign the papers before we start setting up fight parties .... and i wouldnt be surprised if Cotto or Margarito pushes the date back either.....If the happens, i Would have Margarito winning by KO or TKO after 8 rounds....Cotto will do good early and be able to Jab and Counter for a few rounds but will be broken down by the bigger stronger Margarito with Azumuh Nelson type punch stats.... Cottos punching Power will have little affect on Margarito and Cotto will be forced to backpedal after 5 rounds taking away Cottos Power even further... Margarito should be able to pressure the Smaller (5"7) Cotto at will and force Cotto to the ropes where i think most of the fight will take place.... Cottos long background in boxing will keep him in the fight for awhile but i see Cotto start to fade by the 5th round , taste the canvass by the 7th , and be KOed after 8 rounds..... Cotto will show tremendous heart in the fight but the size advantage will be too much for Cotto to Overcome, Plus Margarito has got one h**l of a chin....Come fight night when they stand next to eachother before the fight most of you will see just how small Cotto is compared to Margarito

Yes that fight is for sure says Bob Arum, except the date MIGHT be pushed back, at most a month. and it will be in 08' not 09 my friend.

As far as the fight go's it will be very entertaining Margarito is a fighter/brawler, but cotto does have the power and i think it will effect margarito's tall thin body, also give cotto more of a target to preform his excellent body work.

But if Margarito uses his reach to his advantage and not make the fight on the inside like he should do, and box using his jab keeping cotto at bay also preventing body shots. He might just out point cotto,

Only thing that is not margarito's style hes a                      MEXICAN WARROR you know how they can be.

I believe that will be his DEMISE........

i like voneric1's take on it and it seems conceivable but i have to take the opposition. margarito isnt very savvy in the ring hes more of a brawler and beating down on an insecure cintron is hardly enough reason to believe that he could do that to somebody like cotto. cotto knows how to fight as well as box he has good lateral movement (kermit cintron moved only backwards and forwards which is why margarito connected so much either to his chin or the back of his head) if the fight gets to round 8 margarito will tire from that strenuous pace at which he fights. i believe margarito could drop cotto, but if it goes past 8 cotto, with his superior boxing skills could dominate the late rounds maybe not by knockdowns but by scoring and cotto will win by unanimus decision. a great fight in the making. instant classic. plus i think cotto can beat mayweather i dont think margarito could. and i want to see that more than anything.

also im not sure what their planning but the last mayweather de la hoya fight wasnt at the 147lb weight class therefore not a title fight. do you think mayweathers got the marbles to put his title up to de la hoya next time?

The only thing i could say is that this Cotto *VS* Margarito fight, Will be a h**l of a fight. Because Cotto is not Cintron, Miguel is a legit champion & great warrior !

Cotto wins again because of his jab. Again he is a natural south paw who uses his jab as a hammer. Time and time again he has bloodied opponents right side of the face consistently. No matter who the fighter was. Margo cut was over his right eye. The minute Cotto lands one of his vicious jabs it will open up immediately! Then it will basically be target practice and Margo's eye will close up by the 5th round and the left hooks will be unstoppable.

Cotto will win by attrition again !TKO in the 7th!

Stop hating on Cotto because nobody wants to fight him!

margarito i believe will win. the reach advantage is great and i don't think cotto will be able to deal with the volume of punches that margarito will be throwing from all those various angles. Cotto has a suspect defense....no...no...he has poor defense, he gets hit with alot of punches, even punches that shouldn't land, as in his fight vs Torres. margaito will overwhelm him, margarito will throw between 1300 and 1500 punches easy because thats his norm. Cotto has never faced that before. It will overwhelm him and eventually wear him down. margarito wins by ko or tko.
