Cotto Mistake?

Is it just me or did Cotto make the mistake of not going to the body he should have seen that his shots werent fazing Margarito and started working on the body. I dont know if this would have made much of a difference but Cotto is a hellacious body puncher and he didnt use it to his advantage.

  1. Yes i saw the same thing, but i also noticed that when Cotto did unleash a body punch, that left him opened for a head shot and i believe that he just didn't want to get hit by a clean head punch by Margarito.

  2. U are absolutly right....I was saying the same thing...why isn't cotto going to the body.....thats his money blows....but he had 2 learn someway

  3. Cotto didnt have the opportunity to go to the body Margorito had his elbows tucked well through out the fight it was a game plan the worked for margo.

Cotto fights depending on how the fight goes. He never needs a game plan he works as things go. The face and counter punches was what was open so he went for it.

And remember it worked like magic the first half of the fight. It almost looked like he would take care of him with ease. Dodgeing everything and counter punching and utilizing the jab. It would have been nice if he countinued to work the jab he stoped. Even though it was effective.

More then anything Cotto lost out of exuastion not lack of skill or exeuction. and Margo won out of will and chin not surpior skill but it did make him the winner.

  4. It doesn't matter. The results would be the same. Margo was just too big and too much for Cotto!!

  5. Can't agree with you more. Cotto is so d**n fast he could easily make an opportunity to get some body punches but he didn't.  He chose to try to knock him out on his chin instead.

Cotto just made that mistake of trying to act bigger than a fighter who is bigger in size and tougher in chin.  This is just another story of a primadonna champ and a hungry boxer.  But only one question is left in my mind, because all of us can see it, I wonder if his trainer/coach also told him and that Cotto just chose to do it his way.
