This is a up in the air fight. It's funny how guy's on HBO and ESPN talk about Cotto boxing circle around Margo. Only person Cotto boxed circle around was Gomez. Cotto is not a guy to box circle around a person but uses a snapping jab to come in behind. Talking about how he out boxed Mosley. Mosley has never had the skills of a boxer and steward said that. Mosley has bad defense, no head movement, no jab, and dont know how to adjust. Has no answer for the jab and right hand. Cotto is good but not ready to say he can box. You can rate him the best Welter because he's undefeated. But cant rate him the best, until beat the top Welter and clear the division. Lets put x by these guy's name and than we can call him the best Welter. These guy's have L besides Berto but not by Cotto. Your not given the best Wetle rep, but have to earn it. At Welter Cotto has Judah coming off 2 L, past prime Mosley and a overated stepping stone Quintana. PBF wasnt clearing the Welter either. Judah coming off a L, Carlos overated, past prime Oscar. Didnt want include Hatton or Gomez.

Cotto Tko 9.  Margarito like Mosley will be shocked by how fast Cotto really is. Shane Mosley said you just cant imagine how fast Cotto is until your in their with him.

The body shots will add up, Margarito's arms will start to drop, Cotto will then bust him upstairs. Margarito will give Cotto some scary moments in the early going but in the end he will just have eaten too many shots from Cotto and his corner will stop the fight to prevent Margarito's pride from getting him killed.

I know most people see it as a knock em down competitive fight the whole through, and the possibility is there, but I think after 4 or 5 rounds your going to see that Margarito is in over his head and just outclassed.

The only thing that Margarito has to his advantage is that he is a solid big Mexican welterweight, hes got the reach but he does not use it, he prefers to fight inside which will benefit the shorter Coto. Other then size every other advantage belongs to Cotto.

If Margarito does win this one it will be by knockout, and to do that he has to time Cotto and catch him off guard. Tall lanky fighters with good power are hard for anybody to deal with. Cotto has never faced someone as big as Margarito but Margarito has never come close to facing the quality of Miguel Cotto.

to be honest with you I think this is the end of the line for Cotto.Margarito has proven in his last couple fights that he has a great chin.kirmet cintron hit margarito with every thing and the kitchen sink and margarito walked through him and knocked hin out.Now don't get me wrong cotto is a great fighter and does have the ability to beat margarito but he has made mistakes that more and more fighters are starting to pick up on.zab judah rocked him early before tireing out and shane mosley had him on the ropes before age cought up with him.cotto almost got ko'd by ricardo torres before coming back to knock him out.now i know what your thinking what has margarito done and i agree margarito isn't exactly the greatest of all time but he is one thing and thats a tough mexican fighter who is big and has a great chin.i say margarito knocks cotto out in 5 rounds

I do agree with a lot of the points discussed in earlier answers.  Cotto has good hand speed, and is a better boxer then most people give him credit for.  He has traditionaly pounded guys out, and unitl he fought Shane did not have to change his style.  I truly believe for him to win this fight he will have to box more.  Margarito is a big big fighter at this weight with a solid chin.  Cotto has a suspect chin with a lot of heart, but if he mixes it up with Margarito....Margarito will end up wearing him down and eventually knocking him out late in the fight.

Cotto will pull off a victory against the older margarito even though margarito is the bigger guy of the two,cotto has the advantage on agility,power and his relentless style will destroy margarito,both fighters are knockout artist ,i think the fight will not go to the distance because of the fighting style of both men,both men has a knockout punch but cotto's defense will be the key in this fight regardless of his aggressive style,margarito can use his reach advantage against cotto but if he doesn't find an opening to lunch his knockout punch,cotto will take the opportunity to stop margarito,COTTO WILL WIN BY KO OR by decision!

The judges submit their verdict. 114-113, Margarito. 115-112 Cotto. 114-113 for the winner… by split decision… and STILL Undefeated… MIGUEL COTTO!!!
