I'm considering a temp assignment in the UK for a year and a half. They will pay for my housing (furnished), including basic utility and communications. The transportation allowance is about $350 a month, Would this be enough? How much is car rental on a long term (monthly or yearly) contract?

My real concern is on the living expense. Would $60 US dollars a day (my per diem) be enough to pay for food and basic incidents (such as laundry, etc.) for two people? The location is likely to be between Bristol or Oxford. Thanks.

  1. £30 a day is easily enough for basic expenses - just don't expect to be feasting on lobster and caviar!

you could look on a supermarket website (sainsbury or tesco are the main ones) to get an idea of the price of food.

if you want to go out, meals can cost upwards of £20/30pp, club entry can be upwards of £5 depending on the night/location (drinks extra), so it depends how much of a nightlife you want, and how well you budget!

  2. yeah.. should be enough since everything is paid for except food and basic stuff.. transportation is definitely sufficient..
