Hey I was looking at Michigan State University and it told me that they consider

-Talent/ability

-First generation

-Character/personal qualities

what do these mean?

  1. Talent and Ability would have to do with your academic and extracurricular performance.  Colleges want students who are accomplished and will bring those assets to the campus community.

    First Generation is a term used to denote someone who is first in their family to go to college. Meaning, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and so on do not hold degrees from a university.

    Character and personality qualities would be the things that make you you, right? A lot of schools use the essay as an opportunity for the student/applicant to put his/herself on the page.  

    Good luck with your application! Apply early, get your FAFSA in on time and things will run smoothly for you.
