  1. No, bill gates only has 813,130,446 shares (about 8%), so he is in no position to close microsoft.


  2. It is a corporation with lots of owners, so Bill Gates could not shut it down on his own.  If he did shut it down, someone else would pick up the pieces and keep on going.
