Hey, I know its a stretch, but hes 4-0 with 3 complete games and 1 shut out since going to the Brewers.

After all, Willie McGee won the NL batting crown in 1990 despite being traded to Oakland late in the season.

  1. nah... im thinking cliff lee (cleveland indians) will win it this year... he is 14-2 currently =]

  2. hes good, no doubt about that.  But since he's only going to be pitching 14 games in the national league, i dont think he stand a chance against someone like Webb, Lincecum, or Lohse.  Next year i think he will, especially if he pitches like hes pitching now.

  3. Yes, he could win it.  Rick Sutcliffe pitched only 20 games for the Cubs in 1984 and won the Cy Young by going 16-1.

Sutcliffe was traded mid-season to the NL after pitching the first half for the Cleveland Indians.  Sound familiar?

  4. Right now, I'd give it to Lincecum of the Giants.

    In 20 starts, he's gone 11-3 (.786) with a 2.79 ERA and 143 Ks for a 43-59 (.422) team.

    Remember Steve Carlton, '72

edit: Carlton won the Cy Young for a last place Phillies team, with over 50% of Philadelphia's win total. Lincecum has just over 25% of the Giants total, so maybe my point on Carlton is moot.

  5. Rick Sutcliffe was 4-5 with the Indians in 1984 and then was traded to the Cubs in June and went 16-1 the rest of the way to win the NL Cy Young. So, yes, it could happen.

  6. Its tough when you only pitch half a season in one league.  The main stat for a cy young award is wins.  How many wins can he get fo the NL?  Like 12 maybe? Not enough.

A batting crown is easier if you have less at bats.  As long as you qualify.

  7. The Cy Young is given out to the best pitcher in both leagues? So why do K Rod and Cliff Lee have anything to do with CC? I don't think so unless he wins all his starts and goes undefeated and the Brewers win the division.

  8. He's got my vote for NL CY YOung right now if he stays on this pace! Lincecum, Webb and Volquez have lal showed they are human recently and not displayed their 1st half prowess.

  9. to da first person dere in two differnt leagues sweetie

and yes if he continues to pitch like this den no doubt he will win the cy young
