Could Cesc Fabregas move to Santiago Bernabeu?
Real Madrid are planning a sensational move to pry Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas away from London. The Spanish giants are reportedly preparing an audacious 35-million-pound bid for Fabregas in the summer.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international has made no secret of his desire to leave Arsenal. Before the start of the season, he was almost certain to join Barcelona. Fabregas had yearned to return to his boyhood club, but was held back by Arsene Wenger.
The Arsenal manager was unwilling to let go of his captain, insisting repeatedly that the player was not for sale. Wenger spurned Barcelona’s advances, and ultimately, the deal fell through. It is believed that the Catalans will redouble their efforts to
sign Fabregas at the end of the current season. But now, Real Madrid have also thrown their hat into the ring.
It has been reported that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is set to make a direct appeal to the Arsenal captain in the hopes of luring him away from the London club. An unnamed source has stated, “Mourinho has decided to convince Cesc personally he can
be the next leader of the team.”
In addition to the 35-million-pound bid, the Real Madrid manager will offer surplus players like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mahamadou-Diarra-c23077 and Gago in the hopes of loosening Wenger’s grip on Fabregas. It is doubtful whether the midfielder would even
consider joining Jose Mourinho’s new-look Madrid side. Fabregas’ history with Barcelona means that a move to the Santiago Bernabeu will forever brand him a traitor in the eyes of the Catalan faithful.
Perhaps more importantly, it does not seem like Arsene Wenger has any plans of selling his star. The Spaniard’s contract with Arsenal lasts until 2015. Fabregas has become something of an icon at the Emirates Stadium and losing him would be a big blow. However,
an offer of 35 million pounds along with proven players like Diarra and Gago might just be too much for Arsene Wenger to refuse.
