I have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science but I do not enjoy programming. I have not been able to find a job in Information Technology since I graduated from college, 2 years ago. Can I go back to school to become a teacher? How long would it take since I already have a Bachelors Degree? What kind of school would be best for me to get a teaching degree? Thanks.

  1. yes you can be a teacher, since u already have

a bachelors of science in computer science,

Who knows if you might be teaching people that are not really computer litterate

  2. You would be one of those keyboarding teachers in Highschool, its a really easy job.

  3. You don't necessarily have to teach Computer Science, although it does depend on which age range you're teaching. If you went into secondary then you need to be qualified in a subject, in your case computing, but you could do younger ch'n and you can pretty much have any background subject, because they will train you up to have a 'specialist subject'.

  4. In some states you would not necessarily have to go back to college first to become a teacher.  In North Carolina we have something called lateral entry. This is for people who have a bachelors degree and what to teach.  Once you have received a job your school board sends off your transcripts to the state.  They then tell you what other classes you have to take.  I would say check into what your school districts offer.  As for what school you have to go to.  Most of my fellow teachers are taking their extra classes at a community college.

Lateral entry is nice because you have a job as you are continuing your education.
