  1. wow..thats what i have to say about that...

also i would give your body a break....just about a week tho...in between that not pushing yourself so hard...so just take it easy for right now, then see how it is later.

  2. Let me say this.

    there is no limit.

    The sky is the limit.

    lol, that was not smart.

  3. How often do you run a mile?

If you ran your fastest time last week, why would you try to run faster so soon?

You are not at your limit, but you should be careful, it is easy to over train, and running too much will make you slower, or injured.

    Relax.

Don't worry about your times so much.

To run faster you need to figure out what part of your race needs work.

Whether you should be doing speed work or endurance work.

The mile is a middle distance race and requires aerobic and anaerobic training.

That means that you have to do long distance training as well as pace and speed intervals so you can run at a fast pace.

Follow your coach's advice they got you this far and will help you.

  4. After seeing many runners in 8th grade and high school I have seen that the sub 5:10 mark always takes forever to get by. Check your diet, training, etc. Any of those could have an affect on your performance. Don't worry use cross country as endurance training and build your body up then, and I'm sure you'll have it next year.

  5. Dont worry, this year I started out with a 5:06 mile.  It took the whole indoor track season to break 5(I dont know why, but it was a some sort of a barrier).  Once I began outdoor, my times dropped quickly, and by the end of the season I was capable of running a sub 4:50 mile(thought my fastest timed was a 4:52)

What Im saying is, though it may seem like your not getting faster(trust me, I didnt feel like I was getting faster), if you continue to train, you will get faster, just not as fast as when you ran slower times.

If your running XC next season, I would suggest not worrying about your mile time during the summer and do mostly distance training, with a track workout once every week or so.

Of course if your running summer track, than you can keep focusing on the mile.

  6. You should have no concern whatsoever.  Your only 15 and have plenty of time to develope your running speed.  If your passionate about it you will do well.  Keep in mind that running at an intense speed takes alot of muscle power, so its how your fuel your body and train.  I can see that you could beat that time, it may not be tommorrow, next week, or next month, it could be months.   Do some hill repeats to make your legs stronger. Keep at it :)
