Question:

Could I be in competition dance?

Do you think I could be in a competition jazz class with this experience:

2 years of regular hip-hop

1 year irish step (lol, don't know how this will help!)

1 year stretch class (included the bar, leaps, turns, and combinations in jazz)

But I'm going to switch dance places. So for next year, should I try out at the new place?

Also, I want to try tap. Is it easy? Is it fun?

  1. yeah, you sound like you've had a good amount of training for a jazz competition team. My advice would be to at least take a regular jazz class,(if that's offered) that doesn't compete along with the competition class. The stretching class you took was a smart move and will help you out. Keep taking it!! Try to stretch you splits every night and practice your leaps and turns. Remember to smile and preform and have fun!

( p.s Tap is my absolute favorite type of dance. You should definitely try it!)

  2. Definitely try out..

even if you don't make it you will still know what to expect the next time you try. I have been taking dance since I was two years old, and tap has always been one of my favorite types of dance. It is hard to pick up on at first because there is so much to think about, but as long as you just keep trying and focusing on what you have to do you will be fine. It is a lot of fun once you really understand it.

  3. Definately! I do competition in tap, jazz and ballet and the competitions are about the most fun thing you can ever imagine. I think you have enough experience to at least try out but you might have to work a little harder to keep up with the others. And tap is really fun. I think it's easy but it's my strongest subject...At least try it you got nothing to lose!!!

  4. You should always try out!  The worst that can happen is they'll tell you that you aren't ready for the team.  And if that happens, you can ask them what you need to do to be ready the next year.

Stick with it - that's the important thing.

  5. sorry idk but good luck and best wishes :)

  6. okay ive been dancing practically my whole life :

    1. you should always try out

    2. i u've had experience adn it flows try it anywayz

    3. try out for stuff thats nopt hard but not easy with kids your age and level u will be fine. I never laugh or look weirdly at someone who doesn't make it...i know they tried their best.

    4. Tap takes rythym butits just practice and you can get it it may be a little awkward at first but a little practice will take care of that

    Hope I helped....Good Luck!
