  1. If you are interested in joining the team, go ahead and join it.  Tell the coach you are not sure what events you want to try, he should let you bounce around for a bit and see where you fit in, what you like, etc.  You can even change events year to year.

There is nothing wrong with being a thrower and a runner either.  You can do both, and I know several people who were very successful at both.  Good form is just as important as brute strength in the throws.

If you think you want to do distance track and you don't have a fall sport, consider joining the cross country team too.

    Good luck.

  2. your should throw some javelin

but just try different things, it rare that any high school track athlete finds his best event on the first day of track practice.

  3. Your bench is more impressive for sure.

  4. try them both, see which works out. your in 9th grade, you have time to train and develop, so see which one you like more and which one you have a better chance to compete in. i'm going into 11th, i did indoor track for awhile which is pretty much the same thing and trust me, you have plenty of time to decide what you want

  5. You will have to drop you time in the mile by about 40 secs to be good. and the only way to know if you will be good at throwing is to try it. You should go out for track you never know you would be really good at it. Just give it a chance and if you aren't good right in the beginning to worry, give yourself a chance to learn. Good luck

  6. Sure, go try out. Once you get on the team, ur mile time will most likely come down. 6:22 isn't bad for someone who's never run track before. Ur just gonna get better.
