Question:

Could I be pregnant on Mirena?

I have had a Mirena IUD since June. I had a normal period right afterward then 2 wks later I had another one but it was lighter. Now it's been 4 1/2 wks and I am cramping like I have been on it but no period. I was always regular beforehand. Should I take a test to be sure?

  1. First of all Mirena is an IUC. not an IUD. Anyway mirena is MORE effective than birth control or tubes tide so you probably arent not pregnant at all. It does mess with your system for a while though. You have to go through many menstral cycles before it is normal. After about 5 cycles it will probably become normal again. Always tell your doctor how you are doing.

  2. Well I have never had Mirena but the this web site said that at 3 months you could have lower abdominal pain (cramping). If it doesn't go away in a week then you should go to your doctor and be shure nothing is wrong. I hope I was some help.

  3. No BC is 100% effective...I've had my first child b/c my BCP failed. But, I have heard that there are a decent amount of women who have problems adjusting to Mirena and have a lot of the symptoms you are talking about. Maybe call the doc and see what he says.

  4. Yes.  And call your doctor for the cramping.
