Do you have to have 20.20 vision without glasses/contacts or can you still have contacts?

If you can not have any correctional helps, could you get lasik surgery and then be eligible?

Thanks.

  1. Don't do lasik.  Get PRK.  Lasik cuts the film on the eye and under extreme stress environments, that flap can come undone.  The Navy provides it's sailors with PRK.  I had it and it was great

  2. My brother is graduating from pilot training with the Air Force this month at Laughlin AFB in Texas. One of his eyes had a slight problem... He used a system that was self training to get it better...

The AF has also recently changed their policy to allow LASIK surgery patients to apply for pilot slots.

So my rec would be to have the LASIK but be sure to clear it with official AF personnel before you do anything

good luck... pilot training is not easy stuff

  3. Well the FACT of the matter is you are not allowed to wear contacts

when you are going into Combat...or Training...

As an Heat would Melt them, therefore permanently Blinding you

by burning your eye balls out...in excruciating pain...

  4. You need near near prefect vision to become a pilot for all branches of the military. But now they will accept someone who has had lasik surgery. but usually you will need to apply after a year after surgery.
