Question:

Could I become a professional pitcher

I am 15 years old and would like to pursue a pro career as a pitcher. My fastball is about 65-70 MPH, 75 tops. I can throw a devastating 12-6 Curveball, a good sinker and splitter, and my changeup can catch hitters by surprise. With more practice, do I have a shot at a possible career as a pitcher?

  1. probaly not. at your age your throwing pretty slow and probably don't have the arm strength to ever throw hard enough to make it. But, just remember, if you can consistantly throw balls 300feet , you might have MLB potential

  2. sorry but you aint got the speed on ur fastball.my 21 year old bro can throw 95 mph fastballs and a nasty split finger and he was undrafted the last 2 drafts

  3. Anyone can make it with practice, but you gotta get more heat on your fastball, in my 13-14 league I got kids throwing 80 mph no joke.

But yah just work on your off speed stuff if you ain't got the speed.

  4. No.

It would be nice if you stopped asking questions like this.

  5. you would need luck. Im 15 and i whip fastballs in the mid 70s and sometimes high 70s. You need to work on developing your changeup first. drop the splitter and curve till you do. Keep the sinker however. Work on command most importantly. Email me if u got any more Qs about pitching

  6. no offensve but you could just being saying this stuff and its not true do u have a video cuz serouisly

  7. everyones got a shot...all you gotta do is keep practicing against hitters...and be sure to be smart when pitcihng and youll be there =]

  8. i say do wut the first dude said and work on control and mechanics

and for as many pitchers as there are for each and every organization i say if u practice and r determined, u could make it

  9. quit askin this question dude ur a great pitcher if u got all that filthy stuff

and listen to the GO A'S kid hes rite

  10. no u ******* suck

  11. keep practicing, but don't take any advice from anyone here.

except that first comment, and that one, and that one...repeated.

  12. no.

and i agree with u killzone

  13. We are not scouts for baseball, stop asking this question! we get it already.

  14. You could. Just gotta keep working at it. Righty or Lefty? If you're a righty you'll need to throw around 88-92 to be considered by a pro scout or a big time baseball school. But, if you're a lefty you wanna throw around 82-87 to be pretty successful. I'm not one to emphasize velocity, but more location. Keep the ball down and you'll go places. If you want to get stronger I suggest you start on a lifting program for your body. Also you want to strengthen you rotator cuff and look something up in google called the Thrower's Ten Program. This has many excersices to help you.

  15. Of course, especially with the pitches you have. Keep working on command and mechanics and you will do fine as long as you do not try to throw for too much velocity. Mix up your pitches during games.

    Good luck!
