Even when it has no cassette? It only has a radio. It's a 1995 Geo Prizm. Music is kind of a big deal to me, so is this possible?

About how much would it cost also?

  1. For everyone that suggested to go to Best Buy or Circut City, let them go there and get their sub standard install done. When their car catches on fire I will laugh, because they should know better than to trust an appliance chain store install over priced car audio. Those of you on here that keep suggesting to go to these places, do your home work first. Look at how many complaints they get. There is someone that posted on here that is having major problems after a Best Buy install.

Go to a local audio shop and have it installed, the charge should be right around $50 for the install. Not to mention just about every audio shop that I have every came into contact with offers free install when you purchase at their store.

  2. crash that antique and get a new car, here in the 21st century cd players come standard in vehicles....

  3. Yes, it is possible. Welcome to the world of aftermarket applications. The radio itself (although basic) but more than suitable for your needs will be about $100, and install could be as high as $60. However, some stores such as Best Buy/Circuit City will offer free-installation on select receivers that are over $100. So, check them out. If you have any other questions, feel free to drop me a line. Good luck to you.

  4. Yes of course...Install is about $50-$60.  If your just getting a radio and using old speakers without amps or subs, you don't need to spend more than $150.00 Max, unless you want a usb to plug in IPOD or blue tooth .  Check the features to make sure you don't get one's that you don't need, such as sub outputs and controls.   I would suggest upgrading your speakers as factory are lousy.

  5. Stick with Circuit City as they seem to be to be the only one doing free install for radio over 99 dollars anymore.   And to the guy who says get a new car because the come with cd players now,  yeah but most of the new factory radio are junk.  they die in half or quarter the time as older factory radios so that won't necessarily fix her problem.  Just got through working on a 2006 Honda Civic(new body style mind you) that FM/AM never worked when the guy bought car and since he put more than 36,000 miles on the car they won' t fix it and want charge him somewhere between 350 - 650 to fix or replace it.  Although i wouldn't be oppose to giving up a Geo for just anything else.  hehehe
