Could I get colored contacts without consulting my doctor first?

I have been wearing contacts for about a year now and I would like to start wearing colored contact lenses. I know my prescription and I know what color I want; do you think I could just go online and order some colored lenses without consulting my optometrist? Or should I talk to him about it first?

Yes, you have to get a prescription first to order online anyway.

The site will call the Dr. and check that the prescription is valid that you order with.

Besides, you really have to try the color lenses on first , they don't always fit even though the size is the same.
