Question:

Could I have diabetes?

I heard that some common symptoms of diabetes include:

Frequent Urination; I don't go to the restroom a lot all the time but every now and then I do. I always thought it was just a bladder infection.

Unquenchable Thirst; Lately I've been drinking a lot more than usual.

Fatigue; I'm ALWAYS tired. I thought it was just because of work.

Itchy Skin; I keep breaking out into random rashes and they'll itch for a little bit and then gradually go away a couple mins later.

I'm 19 years old, 5'5, 100 lbs. I get some exercise but not too much and not too little. I don't eat healthy however. I'm a sucker for Mexican Candy such as Lucas, and other flavored salts. No one (to my knowledge) has diabetes in my family. Could I be at risk? or am I confusing this with something else?

  1. You have some symptoms for diabetes and even anaemia so I think you should see a doctor to get a blood test done.

  2. you sound pregnant to me??? if thats a possibility id look into it...good luck!! i hope its not diabetes!

  3. Though you do show some of the symptoms it's hard to say.  Go see a doctor and get a test done.  It could be something else, but I'm not sure.

I hope you feel better!  :-)

  4. Can I disagree with everybody?

How often do you eat the flavored salts?  How much? And is there a pattern between that and being thirsty, urination, and itchy?

Excess salt would be my guess.  As for being tired all the time, that could a lot of things, including anemia and decreased kidney functioning.

You don't mention any other diabetes symptoms. Still you might want to talk to your doctor.  He may want to run tests for several things.

  5. Just simply go to your family dr. let them do blood work and they can tell you.

  6. Well has anyone in your family had diabetes.

If yes then yeah maybe you might, if not then theres a 50% you do.

Go get your blood sugar tested, or even easier just go to the doctors (they make our lives much easier x])

Even if you do have diabetes its not the worst disease a person can have ... in my opinion

  7. This is mimicing diabetes so closely, you would have to be tested.  Juvenile diabetes is getting more common, and is never fully predictable.

But you have some bad habits, and may get off the hook with intervention.

Keep drinking water it is good for you, and you'll go to the bathroom even more.  No problem.  Drink cranberry juice also to flush the kidneys, bladder and urethra.

Eat vegetables for goodness sakes and get some fibre, enjoy fresh carrots, broccoli, apples and watermelon, and almonds, bran muffins and blueberries.

Take a multi vitamin WITH iron, Just one bottle till gone, see if it picks you up.  Then use real food, low carb & calorie.  6 - 8 glasses of water/day.

Walk every day.  And stop the salt altogether.  You can eat rice cake snacks.

Get bloodwork now and later.  Chances are that later, you will be cured!

  8. You should probably check it out. I have diabetes so i know the symptoms and what happens. Yes you are always thirsty, but drink water NOT soda... soda makes thirst worse. Also peeing a lot (lol) is a deffinite sign. Tired- YES. Haven't heard or ever had the itching tho.

My advice- deffinitly check with a doc. Check your blood sugar if you can. Between 70-150 about is normal.

I wish the best for you...

p.s. if you need ANYTHING let me know

  9. seems like somebody is pregnent, go to the doc...well what do i know, im not a doctor, it could be, or maybe your just over reacting
