Could I have help choosing the right car?

I need help figuring out which car is going to meet all of my requirements. It has to be used car (preferably a coupe or sedan) with all wheel drive or rear wheel drive, with ABS and good safety ratings (five and four stars), nothing older than 1998, and preferably an import. My budget is $5k, so nothing too expensive. Ideas anyone? Whats the maximum amount of miles you would buy it with?

  1. You pretty much put all the best cars off the list with the RWD/AWD requirement.

    Over 1998?

    Under $5,000.00?

Besides some random cars like old Mustangs, Camaros, and maybe an AWD Camry, you have pretty much decided on a used Subaru.

Take that random requirement AWD/RWD off and you will be MUCH happier.

  2. economy sucks right now so with $5K alone without loan from bank you might be stuck with a car with high mileage. Over 80,000 or more. I'd go to consumer report.com or edmunds.com  it will help with pricing in your area as private sellers or dealers.

  3. If you want an all-wheel-drive or rear-wheel drive import, you are pretty much stuck with cars like Subaru. I don't know of any Japanese imports that have rear wheel drive off hand. Honda's are excellent vehicles but they are front wheel drive unless you buy a 4wd suv like the Pilot.
