Could I hook a sub up to my home reciever?

I have a sony 186 watt stereo reciever and I'm wondering if I could hook it up to some subs.The reciever is 8 0hms. The model is STR-D315. I am thinking about getting some subs to hook up.

u would need a crossover to fillter out the high signals and u would be all good
