I'm doing the laundry today. I'm not sure what colors go with what. Can someone give me a chart to follow when doing laundry??

I have Hollister Polos/T Shirts It says on tag "put with similar colors"... I have about 4-5 polo shirts that are all really bright colors (light pink, orange, light blue, dark blue) should I put all of them together?? I also have gray T Shirts that have white & green on them, what should I wash them with??? Should I wash pink with light colors? What about a white T Shirt that has a little bit of pink on it(Hollister)???? I have Hollister sweatpants (dark blue with yellow on it, and light gray with orange on it...what do I wash these with) ??

All this Hollister colorful clothes are confusing me!!! I don't wear this stuff so I'm lost..... Can someone PLEASE, PLEASE help me??? It'd help TONS!!!! Thanks so much!!

  1. If they're new then wash them separately or with like colors only. If they've been worn and washed at least a couple times before then you can probably put them all together, but wash on cold.

  2. Wash the grey with the cool dark colors in cold.  Use wool light for new bright colors or any liquid detergent for dark colors.  Always keep warm colors and cool colors separate to avoid getting a drab look to your bright warm colors.  Even in cold water brights can bleed color.

  3. With a few exceptions, you should sort your colors by intensity, and warms (most of which contain some sort of red which seems to bleed really bad) and cools separately.

So if you have pastel stuff, wash in warm water with beige, gray, and other pastels, and whites if the whites aren't too soiled. All the pastels can go together.

Bright tropical or intense jewel tones get broken up warm and cool. All the intense reds, hot pink, maroon, fuschia, orange, and bright purples can go together ON COLD. Blues and greens can go together with black and dark gray, brown, in their own load on cold.

The older the clothes, and the colder the water, the less this stuff matters.

Another sorting trick is to watch your delicates and durables, and the weights of clothing so they dry evenly.

It sounds a lot more complicated than it is, there are a lot of ways to do it. JUST NEVER WASH RED ITEMS IN HOT WATER.

  4. If this is your first time washing the clothes after buying them from store, there's a chance that they will "lose" a little color during wash, so if this is the case I suggest seperating the blue, black and dark colored clothes from the light colored ones.

If you already have washed them several times, it should be no problem to put everything together, though it's always better to seperate the dark coloured ones from light colors.

  5. Usually you're pretty safe if you go with three basic color groups:

    light, dark, and whites.

So, don't put dark colors with whites or whites with the dark group.

With the hollister clothes this should be fine, because they are good quality.

So basically, put the pink, orange, light blue, and your grays. Also put the white w/ pink stripes shirt, and the light gray sweat pants.

If you use bleach with your whites, make sure you don't have anything you don't want bleached in there, or it'll be off colored and it might bleed into your other clothes :)
