Could I teach pre-school or kindergarten children if I only have a B.A. in English?

I also live in the Pennsylvania - I haven't taken my Praxis yet...I originally went to school for Early Childhood Education with a concentration in English - but I just got my English degree as of now.

  1. No, you have to go through a teacher eduation program to earn a teaching certificate.  A BS degree is not enough to be a full time teacher.  You can sub with just a BS degree though.

  3. NO - you have to know ALL subject areas; you have to have a degree in elementary education

  4. It's all about the teaching license in Pennsylvania.  Go sub, and work on what you need to do to certified.  If you want to move, some places in the South and West will take you without a license as long as you have a degree.  Try to look around this site http://www.teachers-teachers.com/

  5. You could maybe check with a private school or a charter school.  Sometimes they hire teachers who do not have a teaching degree.
