Is there a way to hook up my canon powershot sd790 IS to my computer as a webcam so I can make better quality videos and claymations on my computer? Is there a certain wire I need to buy, do I already have what I need once I bought the camera, or is it impossible? One time I heard that canon powershot cameras have motion capture shooting, does that have anything to do with my question?

  1. Hi Chris  ..... can't understand why no one is answering :(. I will try. Well, there are no digital cameras that can be used as a web cam. The reason is that a web cam takes live video and sends it directly through the computer. A digital camera uses a memory card or an internal memory... the still image or movie image is recorded then and there and is not able to continue live streaming. A web cam is like the type of camera they use for news reports on TV.... But the web cams we can buy are so cheap.... some of the Logitech brand goes for $20.00 which is so much cheaper than a digital camera anyway. Hope I was able to help clear that up for you. :)) Thanks for asking... it keeps me on my toes. :)
