  1. no, there's too many bad germs in there.   its not like cow manure...they eat grass all day

  2. No, not unless you break it down first, either chemically or organically. Dogs eat meat, so that's what's in their poo. And, it doesn't contain many beneficial chemicals, but it contains lots of harmful chemicals.

To break down dog poo to use as fertilizer, you can use a chemical that contains an enzyme that breaks down the harmful chemicals and bacteria into a harmless fertilizer. But, this is the kind of dog poo disposal system where you would bury a bucket with the bottom cut off about halfway into the dirt, place the poo inside, pour the chemicals in, and let it decompose and seep into the dirt (like a septic tank).

The organic method is where you buy a specially designed container that has a mesh at the bottom. You then fill the container partway up with certain redworms and toss in the poo for them to feed on it. The worms break down the poo into a highly concentrated liquid fertilizer called Black Gold. But, it's not recommended that you use this fertilizer on any plants or trees that produce edible fruits or vegetables.

There are companies around that collect dog poo and take it away for you. I don't know what they then do with it (it's technically illegal to throw dog poo into the trash, at least in California). But, I'm sure they're doing something with it, like the worm thing, to decompose it for use as fertilizer.

  3. I think it will burn the plants, it is not the same as cow manure.  I think maybe you could use it as a pest deterrent (like deer and squirrels) but I don't think it could be too close to your plants.  That is, if you are trying to find a use for it.

  4. Using dog waste as a fertilizer or soil supplement is a horrible idea.  You expose yourself to a number of potential diseases, and you won't win any popularity contests with your neighbors or with your city if they have a pet waste law.

Skip it - It's not a good idea at all.

  5. fresh waste on growing veggies could be bad.

spring and summper p**p goes to the trees and shrubs.

fall and winter p**p goes on the vegetable plot.

  6. Sure, but not immediately.  It needs to be seasoned a bit, and composted with some plant material.  After it's broken down, it makes pretty good fertilizer.  (My husband uses it on our gardens all the time.)

  7. I wouldn't.  Only the manure from grass-eaters (cows, horses) is recommended as fertilizer, and that only when it has been composted for a year or so.
