  1. I think, with those two passions, going to NY or any large city and being a performer, singer, dancer, and actor OR being a journalist would both be very rewarding.

Doing both of them, I can't say it's impossible, but I think it's unlikely for you to be a journalist for a magazine (a reputable, well-paying one) that takes up inordinate amounts of time to find stories, write them, and report them AND to be a performer, especially involving higher venues like Broadway, which also takes-up inordinate amounts of time preparing and practicing.

I think you should try to double major and study both and improve your techniques in performance in college, and since the two careers have a lot related, such as publicity factors and media, you should have a great time working with both fields in college if you go to a good school and have the time and dedication.

For your career during or after college, I'd recommend focusing on one intensely and then doing one on the side, such as being a full-time performer with some freelance journalism (such as photo-journalism, Web journalism and blogging, or something that can be done at home) or being a full-time journalist with some press company or a magazine and then doing community/smaller-scale theatre, instead of Broadway or bigger.

I think you will have a great time balancing the two in your life, good luck :D

  2. lol,

Just because you take these majors, doesn't mean you will succeed and become one of them as a profession. Realistically, with Journalism and MT, I doubt you would make a career out of either of them on thier own.

If you ever make it to Broadway, I guess you could attempt writing pieces for print, maybe articles on being an actor, from an insiders point of view. Researching anything else during an already hectic working schedule may be a little too much.
