Could I work at Victoria's Secret?

I am in need of a short term job for about half a year or so. I would like to apply at the Victoria's Secret near me, but all the workers I have seen in there tend to be very pretty and thin. I wouldn't say I am hideious, but I am more normal looking and could stand to drop a couple pounds. Would they look at looks during hiring? I think I have good customer service skills, which I would hope counts for a lot, but I am just wondering if they tend to hire a certain type of person. Thanks!

The short answer is Yes.

Now they probably don't do this 100% consciously, but honestly, you DO have to be very presentable to look at because nobody wants to buy s**y things from someone who comes to work scummy or  just doesn't fix themselves up. It's just the shallowness of society! I would say 80% of the girls I work with are attractive (I'm just being honest!), but at the same time- there are a few girls at my work that stood out because of their amazing qualifications, bubbly personality, and their passion for victoria's secret, but their looks did not necessarily impress. If you are worried about being completely thin to be hired- don't be. I think the thin thing is just a misconception- VS, as far as I know, doesn't discriminate against women with different body types.

When you go in for an interview- just make sure you show them how much you love Victoria's Secret, highlight your skills during the interview process, and let your personality shine! Also, don't dress frumpy during the interview- show them you know how to dress cute while also dressing very professional; if you think your looks will not impress them, this at least will show them you will come to work presentable.

I also want to add that beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Maybe YOU think you look normal, but who knows what other people may think! So don't let something like this deter you from looking for a job there! You can most definitely get hired. Good luck :)

Go for it. If they won't hire you because of how you look, then they aren't worth your time. I don't think appearance matters to them, it just matters if you attempt to look good, just as it is at any job. I have seen thicker women [not fat though] working at Victoria's Secret anyway so weight isn't an issue. Good luck.

  I've worjed there for about 8 months and seen so many different looking ppl short tall skinny chunky u name it! All that matters is that u have an outgoing personality and you have great team skills and motivation
