Question:

Could It be wrong?

I have been pregnant 2 times and I am pretty in tune with my body. I thought I might be pregnant and took a test. it is about 4-5 days before i am supposed to get my monthly and the test came up negative. My other two pregnancies when I tested a week after my monthly was supposed to arrive always came up with a very faint positive result. Could i just take longer to produce the hormone that the test detects? Could the test be wrong this time? It was a first response test. Any insight?

  1. Absolutely!

Just because they say you can test earlier now, doesn't mean you'll get an answer. If you look at the insert, 4-5 days before you're due has a very low percentage of actually detecting the hormone. The accuracy greatly decreases the earlier you test, and if you say the line showed up faint for you before, your body probably doesn't develop a lot of the pregnancy hormone early on. If nothing happens between now and the day your period is due, take another test with your first morning urine on the day its due.

    Good Luck!

  2. I could be any of the things you said. I think a woman knows her body best, I would try it again in a few weeks.

  3. If you were getting faint positives before a week overdue for AF, then more than likely you would not get a positive now even if you were pregnant.

Unfortunately it sounds like you would need to wait at least another week and a half before you stand any chance of getting an accurate result.

    Good luck and babydust
