POOR MALONE! Ryan Malone was SO distraught after the loss... and people are saying that that was probably his last game with the Penguins... what's this about? His father, Greg, wore the same number, number twelve... I thought that was kinda interesting! But anyways, why would anyone trade a guy like him... terrific player!

  1. i really hope they dont trade him.

he's a great guy and is a real asset to the team.

    : D

  2. That is a possibility.

  3. They wont be trading him...he is an unrestricted free agent. With all the young talent and a big desire to ink Hossa there simply isnt enough money to go around for everyone. He could opt for a hometeam discount deal but that could cost him several million dollars so I cant see that happening. They also could lose Orpik and as good as Malone was losing Orpik would be far more damaging. They have a lack of depth on the blueline as is and Orpik added a toughness just like Malone. Such is life under the cap system and it is worse for teams like the Pens who struggled enough to get several high talented picks. Great players cost a lot of money, look at Tampa who paid so much to the 3 top forwards and Boyle that they couldnt add any quality at all.....now they are trying to figure out how to be competitive again. The Pens need to keep big money available for Fluery, Malkin and Staal or they will lose them to free agency after next season. Some team may sign Fluery to an offer sheet this summer making things even more complicated....those are the kind of things the GM has to consider before getting guys like Malone re-signed.

  4. Maybe the Rangers will acquire him. I'd like that! :D

  5. Ryan Malone loves Pittsburgh, the loss was a big deal from him, reading from an article I found...

Then again, you don't need an article to find that out.

"Sitting beside Crosby in the dressing room was teammate Ryan Malone, his face cut and broken from the heated competition of this Cup final. As Crosby spoke, Malone sat in full uniform, staring blankly at the label of an energy drink container.Malone didn't move. Eventually, a Penguins attendant stood in front of him, gently waving TV cameras away as Malone began to weep quietly, understanding that as a free agent, this had likely been his last game as a Penguin, the same team his father, Greg, had played for, the team for which his father had also worn No. 12."

Anyways, Malone is an amazing fit on the team, because of the cap issue, I think it's going to affect him if he asks for more $, hopefully they could keep Ryan. He's an amazing player, and he's a player which many teams want to have.

  6. Possibly. As an UFA, he is one of the few power forwards readily available. The Pens have a lot of cap issues in signing Fluery (RFA), Hossa, Orpik, Laraque and add in the lst year of Malkin and Talbot.

That is a core of the team and they going to lose somebody.

  7. thats too bad that he has to leave Pitt, but ill tell you what, he is one tough @ss dude, and i would love to have him on the Wings.

  8. The doctors gave him a look over, and they said he was fine to play in the next game... so he wasn't that bad.

I think if Ryan Malone leaves (gosh, i hope he doesn't because hes my favorite player) he knows that since his father is part of the scouting staff, he'll always have a place on the team if he wants to come back.

  9. Its not about trades, its about fitting the team and whatever members of that team they can,  UNDER THE CAP. The PENS have reached a point to where many young players are ready for their payday and not everyone can stay!

  10. i dont know hes pretty good

  11. i dont know, but i really like him

  12. He lives in Colorado with his wife and son, it has been rumored all season that he might want to play for the Avs.

My bad, I think he lives in Minnesota, what am I saying? Lol.

  13. Going along the lines with Ryan’s answer. Malone won me over as a fan in the Stanley Cup. That guy is hard core tough as nails. My Gosh! I’ll be telling my grandkids about the guts of that man.

If the Pens do get rid of him, there’s room on the Stars for him.

  14. With the desire there seems to be around here to re-ink Hossa, as well as restructure Fleury and Malkin (and Staal next year), plus Crosby's big money deal, I don't see any scenario where they can keep Malone, unless he takes pennies to the dollar to hang around his hometown team...Unlikely, but such is life in the salary cap era.

  15. he may not charge the pens as much money as he deserves because he wants to stay..  he loves pittsburgh because he grew up there.  however, he could get a lot of money because he proved himself as a huge asset all season long.  we will have to wait and see.
