The editor of a pro-life news service says a draft copy of the proposed Democratic Party platform that will be approved later this month in Denver continues the party's historic pro-abortion stance and mirrors Barack Obama's extreme support for abortion.

The proposed Democratic Party platform announces unequivocal support for Roe v. Wade and direct taxpayer funding of abortions. Steven Ertelt, editor of LifeNews.com, obtained the draft platform from a pro-life group that is urging the Democratic Party to moderate its stance on abortion.

Ertelt says the platform draft also expresses support for the so-called "Freedom of Choice Act" -- a bill Senator Obama promised Planned Parenthood last summer would be the first piece of legislation he signs as president. According to Ertelt, the measure would overturn all of the pro-life laws nationwide.

I'm wondering if all of you who are voting for Obama agree with him on this?

  1. The only real affect a president can have on legislation is in the power of the veto. Don't buy into the scare tactics of some who oppose a particular candidate. Bush is a well known proponent of the pro-life side of this issue and yet after almost 8 years in office, Roe v Wade is still the law of the land.

  2. Good for him - maybe Bush's laws - protect an unborn baby but bomb the civilians of other countries (inc born babies) to smithereens is fine and dandy! Hypocrite!

  3. He can't do it, but the justices he puts on the supreme court can.

I have no problem with it

  4. No. That's a work for courts and legislatures to do. The president can suggest, but not to push it.

  5. Yes, I agree with him.  But Obama cannot just strike down laws at will.  He can issue executive orders, but laws are written by Congress and then enforced by the court system.

  6. Yes I agree with him. But your question is can he strike down all the laws. The answer is depends on what Congress has to say. The last

time I checked this was a democracy not a dictatorship though with

Bush in power maybe you are right.

  7. The president does not have that much power under the constitution. Only congress can pass legislation. And even they have to get this past the Supreme Court.

This is why the democrats want to eliminate the constitution and make us a totalitarian police state. It's much easier to rule the peasants that way.
