After going through the trailer countless time could Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and the third new character each have a unique approach in terms of gameplay?
Everyone knew that Resident Evil 6 was always going to be announced one day; however when Operation Raccoon City was announced it did quite a bit in distracting a majority of the gaming public’s attention.
On the other hand, Resi 6 was hiding in plain sight in the shape of a website by the name of ‘nohopeleft.com’. There were a number of pictures and videos on the site, each pointing towards an apocalyptic landscape, which it turns out is where the latest
addition to the core Resident Evil series is heading towards.
One other thing we noticed was how differently each of the three characters were suited up and how they each took to combat scenarios in their own way.
Leon Kennedy
The star of perhaps one of Resident Evil 4, which has to be one of the best games of all time, is back after not appearing in the fifth title of the series.
In the trailer he dons his leather jacket look and still has his distinctive and rather unmistakeable hairstyle. Yet it one notices all he has in the sequences is a pistol and usually fights in a more indoor-ish environment.
Could it be possible that when players play as Leon the gameplay takes on a more classic Resident Evil approach?
Chris Redfield
Resident Evil 5 could be seen as a move away from the core survival horror series and a move into action horror. Capcom also announced that the series was moving towards a higher oriented towards the action genre and Chris Redfield could be the catalyst
for that.
If he was not rappelling off helicopters into the streets of China, he had on him a G36C assault rifle and was letting loose a heavy dosage of bullets on the undead. It may be too straightforward a conclusion but seeing Chris’s setting as well as his load-out
from the trailer, could his gameplay style be the more action Gears of War paced one out of the three characters?
Protagonist Number 3
There is still an aura of mystery that surrounds who exactly this character is, although a number of leading websites would have everyone believe he is Hunk from the earlier Resident Evil games. Whether or not that is true is another matter entirely.
All we do know is that he is a mercenary for hire and his blood is something that everyone needs. Could it hold a cure? We doubt it, yet it could hold an antidote that could prevent bites proving fatal, or something along those lines.
Throughout the entire trailer we can see the character without a single weapon apart from Lightening and Thunder. Actually, that is just us here naming his two fists as those are all he seems to be content with using against the hoards of the infected.
Could this character possibly have a more ‘brawler-ish’ approach to the game?
In essence, could Capcom be bringing the best of all worlds into their latest foray into the Resident Evil series, or are we simply getting ahead of ourselves?
