I just read an article about taekwondo controversy on the olympic website.

If it was/is to be removed, why?

  1. nah so many votes

  2. since I disagree with all of you, instead of a thumb - I should be allowed to kick you in the mouth when you are not looking.

How much sense does that make?

  3. they are s******g the fight stupid judges as well in boxing

  4. By the way, the goof that said that Steven Lopez demonstrated poor sportsmanship, obviously didn't see the match. Steven represented the US and Taekwondo first-class. He never protested on the mat and walked off with a smile. The coaching staff handled the protest by using the proper channels.

Additionally, the referee saying that that "cut kick" was an illegal move must be a rookie. That was a horrific call and should not have been a warning. Steven just raised his leg first and then the Italian kicked it. Steven also did the same move twice in sudden death with no penalty from the referee.

Congratulations Steven in representing our Country with dignity.

  5. If they remove Taekwondo, they should also remove boxing and Judo, therefore they should not remove Taekwondo.

  6. It should still be around for 2012, but it is on the chopping block, as is Judo.

I don't think boxing will ever be removed.

We already know that softball and baseball have bee suspended from the Olympics after this year.

  7. Well, Lopez's point was cut because he made an illegal move during the game. His coach and he are protesting the WTF's judgement, basically claiming that Lopez deserved the gold medal. The article is saying that TaeKwonDo might be eliminated due to scoring controversies, but it seems like all sports have some controversy in scoring. It's just that all the other olympians were dignified enough to accept their scores/medals, but Lopez had to be a whiny little olympian and make an issue out of a fair scoring. In my opinion, Lopez does NOT have good sportsmanship, and doesn't have the qualities to be in the olympics.

He is good at TaeKwonDo, but he is so arrogant that he cannot imagine anyone else winning the gold medal. This kind of attitude is not an honorable one for a martial artist or an olympian. He thought he was the best, but the judges didn't think so...and that's why he is throwing a tantrum.
