Question:

Could This Little DooDad Really Be Worth This Much?

My grandmother died 20 years ago and left me several items, among them a toothpick holder. She said it was worth $750.00. Is that really possible? The holder is pale green slightly swirled opaque glass. It has a scalloped edge(when you look at it from the top the rim looks like it's covered with dots). It sits on a little base. It has no markings and no mold lines. I'm runnung out of space and trying to get rid of a lot of junk. Should I hang on to this one? Thanks for any help.

Sorry, I don't have a scanner so I can't post a picture.

  1. Well I think it was worth a great deal to your Grandmother and it is a very small item, so it doesn't take up much space.  You can go to the bookstore or library and look at the collectible glass books to see if you can find this item and what it might be worth.  But the sentimental value is irreplaceable.

  2. Even unmarked pieces are worth collecting. Do some reseearch. Take it to a reputable Antiques dealer and have it appraised. If you get a chance watch Antiques Roadshow on PBS, you'll be amazed what things are really worth. We just bought a piece of Fenton Glass at a store for $20 in Idaho. The current appraisal price is $250.

  3. Might be the green is jade.
