  2. no he's way ahead

  3. YES HE COULD

  4. Yes, definitely will lose his number 1 ranking, however, whoever takes his place will only be number 1 as long as he stays injured :)

  5. If he doesn't play, what difference will the ranking make? Was he number 1 before he was injured? Is he still considered the best golfer playing the tour today? Is any one close to him? If he loses the ranking --- Big Deal !!!

  6. Tiger Woods has held the number one rank for 500 weeks in a row. We'll see. Someone has to catch him first.

  7. From the World Golf Rankings Website: "The World Ranking Points for each player are accumulated over a two year “rolling” period with the points awarded for each event maintained for a 13-week period to place additional emphasis on recent performances – ranking points will then be reduced in equal decrements for the remaining 91 weeks of the two year Ranking period.  Each player is then ranked according to his average points per tournament, which is determined by dividing his total number of points by the tournaments he has played over that two-year period. There is a minimum divisor of 40 tournaments over the two year ranking period."

Tiger could loose the #1 spot since by the time he returns well over 13 weeks (4 months) will have passed and his wins will not be as current a the other golfers on the list. Still the other golfers will need to step up their games to pass him as he has a considerable lead and finishes near the top of every event he plays where as other golfers are far less consistent.

  8. He could, but it's dependent on how long he will be out of action.  I don't think he'll lose his #1 ranking this year.  His lead is enormous.
