Could US ever become allies with iraq?

We are helping them establish their government and providing aid to their people aren't we?

We aren't at war WITH Iraq. We're at war with the insurgents IN Iraq.

We are allies with Japan even though they bombed us at Pearl Harbor.

Time heals all wounds and the world realizes that we need to trade with other countries in order to proper in the international economy. I think that over time, we will be allies with Iraq.

In my opinion we are not at war with Iraq....not the everyday people trying to live their lives. We are at war with terrorists.....selfish fools that don't care about all the innocent people that their suicide bombers kill. They have a warped sense of values. These are the people that we are fighting.

Yes we could (actually we are allies with their government right now - we are fighting with them).   Remember we were allies once with Russia and enemies with Germany and Japan in WW II.  Alliances shift over time with a countries political changes.

EDIT:  We aren't at war with them - we are helping them fight an insurgency in their country.  We weren't allies at the start but we are now.

Uh, where you been? I believe that you can find mountains of footage with Iraqi soldiers fighting along side Americans and calling in US assets for air strikes.

It would be good to see a well developed relationship similar to that like we have with Japan,UK etc.  I feel Iraqi Citizens will remember our dedication to helping them with their goal of independence and how we we talked the talk and walked the walk by our sacrifices to help them.  No matter what our critics say, we are one of the few that actually give a d**n about people.

Actually, you are very wrong! In 1979 Saddam Hussein seized control of the government after systematically killing off his rivals, Shortly there after in 1980 Saddam saw the political revolution in Neighboring Iran as a threat to his rule and declared war on Iran and thus begun a bloody 8 year war which ended in a stalemate, but ruined the economy of Iraq.

During this time the American government supported Saddam with weapons and Intelligence,Check "Iran Contra" in it's fight against Iran because of the strained relationship we had with Iran because of the "Hostage Crisis".

Iraq has never had a democratic government until now and our relationship with the country is better characterized as hot and cold.

you are ridiculous..we arent at war with the country of iraq.weve been at war with them twice so far for a total of about 72 hours haha we whooped the **** out of them insanely quickly each time, we are fighting a guerilla war against insurgents, and i am sad to say i cant think of one war where the insurgents were not able to hold out against an occupying force..as a matter of fact we did exactly that in the revolutionary war

Added: The war on Saddam is over, were are in Iraq protecting the innocent people of Iraq FROM Terrorist, insurgents and religious in-fighting. On top of that we are training Iraqi people to be police, soldiers, pilots so they can defend themselves from out side-rs (IRAN) when necessary.

Yes, we are not at war with the goverment of Iraq any longer, we are at war with insurgents who are actually nothing more than a disorganized guerilla force.

We ARE allies with Iraq.

We are NOT at war with Iraq, we are helping the Iraqi government fight of insurgents in Iraq, and foreign terrorists who go to Iraq to kill obth Americans and people who are tryin to rebuild Iraq into a cohesive, modern nation under a democratic government.

Our forces are in Iraq as invited allies, and there is talk that the Iraqi government will ask us to leave sometime between 2010-12.
