Question:

Could a budgie be outside in the winter?

If i put a big blanket over my budgies cage and then go through my house to my garage and into my car ( which will be warm) in the garage could i transport it to another house 5-10 minutes away and the get it into the house quickly. Will it survive? it will only be inside my garage for 5-10 seconds

  1. Yes it would survive for that length of time and possibly longer.for your journey.The heat in the car would be quite sufficient,a blanket would keep off any draughts,which would be your main concern.

    The can stand cold for a short time(in Canada)but would require some heat if being kept outside.


  2. yes, it should be okay, but don't keep it under a heavy blanket for more than a few minutes, uncover it in the car, it needs air, and the car should be warm enough

  5. Budgies do not take extreme cold.  Do not keep it outside.  Its ok if you put a blanket over the cage, you kept it warm but do not take it outside if you don't have to.  Karen

  6. yes. I would be very careful heating up your car in the garage though. The fumes will kill it way before the cold. I would heat up my car outside then take the bird into the heated car. cover most of the cage leaving just a little open for ventilation. It should be just fine. :)
