I've had a end of the world dream last night that had some sort of asteroid or comic thing had hit the earth. It was terrifying! I hate nightmares.

  1. a 'comic' asteroid?

"Good evening, ladies and germs, a funny thing happened to me after my orbit was perturbed by Jupiter. Hey, how about Uranus and Neptune, huh?  Think they got some kind of "Brokeback Planet" thing going on? Ow! Hey, I will be here all week, thanks for stopping by... remember to tip your waitress!"

  2. Depends on which "comic" the asteroid came from.  If its from Blonde don't worry it's just a big "Dagwood" sandwich.  If it's from BC it could be the "Fat Broad" then we'd really be in trouble!

  3. Well it seems that no one else noticed or commented on this so here goes.

There is no such thing as a "COMIC" asteroid. You have been watching too much Bugs Bunny if you think it is possible for Earth to be destroyed by a "COMIC" asteroid.

The proper question should have been "A COMET or an ASTROID" they are different things altogether.

PS... Ah I noticed that one of your answers did catch that and I gave them a thumbs up for being observant and I liked the answer. LOL

  4. Yes of course - but it is not very likely. Even the biggest comet is still not enough for destroying Earth completely, but it would be a devastating event, similar to the strike which possibly killed the dinosaurs.

A collision with an object as large as mars once created the moon, if such a event would happen again, it would be the end of life on this planet for many billion years. But luckily there are no rogue planets of that size around.

  5. Yes, it could happen - but nothing like that has happened in the last 65 million years.

  6. At least we would go out with a laugh.

  7. What you ask is possible--

But none have been seen headed our way..... in any Earth or Space based telescope.

EDIT-- wonder who is running around giving thumbs down for correct answers?

  8.   Big and fast enough would shatter the earth.

  9. Yes it could happen, but we would know 50-75 years in advance.

  10. It's possible, but very unlikely. And while humour is in the mind of the beholder, I doubt that I personally would be laughing.

  11. It could happen, at it probably will happen in the distant future unless we can find a way to deflect it.

And it's comet, not comic, although I find the image of Eddie Izzard crashing into the earth and destroying it a rather humorous

  12. No, it cannot

  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impact_even...

the site has past impact events, modern impact events, near misses and has a list of asteroids that have a high probability in the future

  14. I have dreams all the time that are totally irrelevant to my reality, it's normal to have bizarre nightmares that will never ever happen.

  15. Not likely in the next 2,500 years.
