What would happen on a country-wide scale if there was a shortage of food or energy to produce the food, or the sustainability to grow food. I'm from Iowa and I've heard a lot of farmers having a very late growing season. Amonst growing energy prices (look at Diesel fuel for truckers) $4.50 a gallon. Our Government doesn't want us to know that we are in a food crises. It could be soon, but imagine the devasation from riots in major cities if people realized there isn't enough food to sustain the population. Look at the major cities on the East and West coast away from where our agriculture system is. What happens when a city of 6 to 10 million people don't have food coming to them. What happens when hundreds of cities accross the U.S. have no place to go to get food? How do people get anywhere without being able to put fuel in their car if gas stations are not getting supplied?

  1. since we somehow have enough food to throw away $48B of it every year, i don't think we're anywhere near a food crisis.  because we live in a globalized economy, agricultural conditions in one part of the world don't have that much of an effect on the world supply of food.  food will continue to be delivered to cities as long as people are willing to pay for it...

i wouldn't worry about social collapse in the us since it would take major changes in the world economy that cannot happen overnight.  however, i would be more concerned with conditions in the developing world, where people are facing 3x increases in the price of food, and people there don't exactly have the money to afford it

  2. I have food stored for just such an occassion for 2 years. Its about time people get pissed off and our govt listens to the people instead of just the rich.

I saw a news show yesterday that a guy pulled up with a regular turck and a horse looking trailer and just took gas out of a tank at a store thru a trap door in his trailer. POWER TO THE PEOPLE! In daylight! LOL

I might not be able to leave my home very much but at least I will have food for my family and Im armed.

I say go after those fricking people at the federal reserve (know one knows whos running the show for real there) , then the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Stick it to those people and the world will take notice because they control who lives and who dies.

  3. Lets not act like it has never happened. What do you think the bread lines were in the depression. My grandmother can still remember all of that. So its not like it was in Abe Lincoln or Thomas Jefferson's time Its happened to my Mothers, Mother and probably most others on here to. Lets hope the middle and lower class have enough sense to join together and start fighting for what is better for them. NOTHING can get done without the working class. The problem will be the suffering it will take to get it done. Lets hope most are strong enough to stick with it and each other. If not then we can just go back to being indentured servants like they want.
