It has been said that pets (dogs, cats) are good friends to humans and make you feel less lonely - but can the same be said for fish?

  1. I don't think so because all they do is swim around. They are peaceful to watch, though. That's about it.

  2. Not really, fish don't really do anything. Unless you're evil to other animals and like seeing animal violence (why? that's totally whack), for fish.. buy piranhas.

  3. I think it just depends on the individual and what brings him/her joy (even the smallest of little creatures like a fish)

I had a fish in the dorm when I came to college and I loved him, lol. He was always happily bobbing around in his tank and i couldn't help but smile when i saw him floating upside with his little fins twirling around.

The way I see it...a fish is better than complete isolation. At least another breathing creature is inhabiting the same space as you :)

  4. I have goldfish and i'm extremely lonely.

You don't get much reaction out of fish, they just....swim.

Dogs and cats get excited to see you, are affectionate etc.

Fish just poo and eat fish food.

Plus it's a pain to clean out the tank.
