Question:

Could a spirit or ghost be harrassing me in my sleep?

Every so often when I go to sleep, I get awakened by someone. Once I was mushed aka got my head pressed really hard into my pillow. Am I just imagining that? Or could something have really mushed me? Also, I'm often awakened by someone yelling my name. Female voice, and it's really loud as if they are scolding me. It's like "VERONICA!" And my boyfriend says he didn't hear anything, and gets mad for waking him up. My dog also will stare at "nothing" or follow it with his eyes as if he's looking at something moving across the ceiling. Once he was growling at the ceiling and came and sat infront of me as if he were trying to protect me. Any answers? I hate this house I'm in and some rooms I just get uneasy feelings in my gut.

  1. It is called "being hag-ridden...or hag-rid, or hagrid" The hag is thought to be an evil spirit...ghost / demon / djinn. Also called an Incubus, the hag is said to be a psychic vampire, which drains your energy, and even your life force.  Either get a good exorcist to clear the place, or move.

  2. Wow.... I think nobodys answers really help you, but d**n thats creepy... I think you know inside whether or not you are making things up.... If you feel there is something genuinely going on, then yes, its a ghost

  3. these are not coincidences. animals are more sensitive to such things, and animals are usually good gauge to the presence of spirits. the ghost is trying to chase u out of its territory, which is prolly the house u're in. depending on your religion or culture, i suggest u get some help from monk, bomoh, priest, whatever that are powerful enough to chase it away, or to guide it on its way.

carrying a talisman on you would hopefully prevent it from physically coming in contact with you (mushed head). or whenever such incidents happen again, memorise and recite a verse out loud from the quran, bible or scripture whatever. (or u could buy a disc that record chantings and play it in your house, its smoothing ina certain way)

if those doesnt help, i suggest u find a new home that doesnt give u the creeps. afterall home is what we look forward to after a hard day's work.

  4. You are not crazy.  I am psychic and have had similar experiences.  You need to realize that you are in control and it is your house, not theirs.  It sounds like you have a angry or mischievous spirit.

You can try a couple different things.

    1. Say a prayer asking for God's Divine light and protection to surround and protect you and your loved ones.

    2. in your minds eye, imagine you are surrounded with God's light..white light.

    3. When these things happen, just be blunt.  Tell them to stop, that it's your house and they need to leave and go into the light.  There is nothing for them here.

I know some of these sound a little out there..but there free and will usually help.

    I hope this helps

  5. The guy who said "Hag Ridden" was partially right. What he didnt explain is that its caused by a sleeping disorder. You are experiencing hallunations related to the process of falling asleep, and waking up. They come in many forms from auditory hallucinations to having a dark figure looming over you (the hag, alien, shadow man, etc).

    You will find much information if you look up these terms;

    Hypnopompic Hallucination

    Hypnogogic Hallucination

    Sleep Paralysis

    Good luck

Edit: one thing I fogot to mention is, the choking part. It sounds like these hallucinations might be brought on by sleep apnea. A lot of people experience sleep apnea while sleeping on thier back only. If this is occuring while you are sleeping on your back, try sleeping on your side.

Otherwise, you might want to get a sleep apnea mask.

  6. First of all , there is a difference between a spirit and a ghost. A spirit is more of a free thinking energy.

A ghost is basically a energy that is caught in a time or a place that it is bound by, less free thinking. More like an impression left.

  7. You were asleep.  You dreamed these things.  If they happen when you're wide awake, that's one thing, but you're brought from unconscious to conscious in a split second.  This is a very unreliable state to be in.

Awoken by a ringing phone, I once placed my clock radio to my ear.

  8. What you're describing doesn't sound [to me] like a ghost/haunting incident, and it doesn't strike me as having anything to do with the house.

My guess would be it's some ground-pounder [live human-being] visiting you during her OBE.

If that's the cause you can probably identify the person fairly easily [assuming you know her, which I suspect you do].  If she's not remembering her OBE experiences, doesn't know what she's doing, you can do both you and her a favor by discussing it with her.

Meanwhile, if it happens again, as soon as you become lucid all you have to do is mentally DEMAND that she leave you alone.  She'll never bother you again.

I say 'mentally' so you don't have to awaken your boyfriend.

  9. It's possible, but it could be night terrors.  A similar thing happened to someone close to me.  She woke up in the middle of the night, unable to move, thinking she saw death.  The problem with things happening when you're asleep is, they're so much more difficult to prove.  The mind plays horrid tricks on you.

  10. like your not alone... ya I lived in a house that had a spirit that would touch people

one time I saw something pressing down on my shoulder like three finger s that wasnt there..... no body in my family believed me. but I felt it and I saw the skin move downward

    with pressure.

cats, dogs, birds and other animals have a sence about things we cant see or hear.

so maby you have a poltergeist

all I know is this ghost that i lived with didn't like me at all.

and threw things at me as well,,,,,     I believe  no doubt about that

  11. No. Ask your doctor about sleep paralysis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paral...

  12. Wow.... I think nobodys answers really help you, but d**n thats creepy...   I think you know inside whether or not you are making things up....  If you feel there is something genuinely going on, you should try video tapes, that sort of thing maybe contact paranormal agency to see if they find anything...

  13. You re capable of moving in your sleep- your brain usually paralyses it, but not always. If you push yourslef into the pillow, your body will not be able to breathe. And when it can't, it will activate its first defence system- wake you up.

The voice is just a dream. Happens to me every so often. Nothing to do with a ghost. You can wake up directly from a dream. ust feeling uneasy- probably phsychological.

If it's serious, talk to your doctor.

  14. I was just about to disagree with Jack..till his last paragraph about the OBE..which to me is astral traveling. I think that a lot of things that we think are spirits could be people astral traveling. I'm almost positive that somebody was doing that to me and I'm pretty sure I know who. I didn't realize she was psychic etc and into astral travel. I suspected...but the thought would go out of my head. I also believe that they are able to get inside you. People will probably disagree with this..but that's because it hasn't happened to them.

However...the dog is something I would definitely pay attention to. But...I guess that could be someone astral traveling too. I'm not sure what the difference is. Both astral traveling and spirits are Out of Body Experiences!

If it's not that (and I don't believe it's sleep paralysis) then you  probably gotcha self a ghost!!!!
