  1. Yep... 5400 nautical mile range with full reserves....

    You may be thinking of the Ilyushin-86 airliner, which due to inferior soviet bypass turbofan technology at the time, could only squeeze out about 2400nm of total range. Once the soviets were able to develop a high-bypass turbofan engine, they incorporated it on newer models.... the 62, the 96s, etc...


  2. Yes, easily.  It use to fly to Canada and Cuba from Russia, with routine fuel stops in Gander.
